25 Thanksgiving Side Recipes... Revisited!

Print
Let's face it... aside from the Thanksgiving Turkey, it's the abundance of side dishes that tend to take up space on the table. Am I the only one that anticipates side dishes more than the main bird itself?! With so many options, Thanksgiving side dishes tend to fall within 5 types - potatoes, dressings/stuffings, vegetables, casseroles and relishes. Here are 25 Thanksgiving side dishes falling within the 5 types mentioned that would be great and tasty additions to your holiday table (or any time of year, for that matter)...

Potatoes
What's Thanksgiving without a side dish of potatoes? Here are some potato dishes that are sure to please and pair up nice with your turkey...
Bourbon Sweet Potatoes w/Candied Pecans
Cheesy Mashed Potatoes
Garlic & Chive Mashed Potatoes
Herbed Goat Cheese Mashed Potatoes

Maple Pecan Sweet Potatoes
Mashed Potato Casserole
Roasted Garlic & Gruyere Mashed Potatoes
Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Spicy Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Dressings & Stuffings
Whether you prefer it stuffed inside your bird or served alongside other side dishes, these are delicious for Thanksgiving. Using autumn flavors such as pecans, cornbread, and apples, these will pair nicely with other dishes on the table...
Pecan Cornbread Dressing
Sausage Apple Dressing

Vegetables
Don't forget to eat your veggies! Amidst the carb heavy dishes that tend to get served at Thanksgiving, here are some vegetable dishes that hold their own at the table...
Brussel Sprouts with Chestnuts & Bacon
Butternut Squash Gratin
Cauliflower Gratin with Queso Cotija
Parmesan Crusted Asparagus
Roasted Asparagus w/Lemon Zest Butter
Roasted Butternut Squash & Pear Mash
Sauteed Spinach with Bacon

Casseroles
Planning on bringing a potluck dish to a Thanksgiving gathering? Why not a casserole to share? These are great since you can prepare them in advance, heat up and are easy to transport too!
Green Bean & Chantarelle Mushroom Casserole
Sweet Corn Casserole
Fancy Green Bean Casserole
Sweet Potato Casserole
Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cheese & Rice Casserole

Cranberry Relish
Cranberries are popular with a traditional turkey dinner so here are a couple relishes to accompany that turkey...
Cranberry Pear Relish
Cranberry Orange Relish

Whatever you decide to serve up this year to accompany your main dishes, take into consideration how much time you'll need to make the recipes, what kitchen appliances or equipment you'll need to prepare and warm the recipes and what you can do in advance to prep your menu without affecting the quality of the final dish. It's helped me to have a timeline of how all the dishes on my menu will be prepared and served and I get a little crazy with lists upon lists of various things that need to be done. The key thing is to have some sense of organization if you're planning on hosting Thanksgiving. Best of luck and happy eating this holiday season!
